    Corporate management

    What is
    corporate management?

The aim of strategic management is to define the objectives of an organization, and to define the plans to achieve them, and to also allocate the resources necessary to implement them.
The strategy of an organization must be in coherence with the resources and the objectives. The process implies to use best the competitive advantages of the organization in its socio-economic context. Its purpose it to enable the organization to achieve its goals with the most efficient way possible.

    Developments and trends

In a context marked by the development of sustainable mobility, corporate governance, ethical and social responsibility, public transport organisations are facing the challenges of being customer-oriented and economically competitive. These changes also presuppose the redefinition of the relationships between authorities and operators. In this environment corporate management must evolve significantly to meet these new requirements.

Public transport enterprises are facing a dual requirement: to cut costs whilst improving service quality. Cut costs because funds – be they public money or ridership revenue - are finite. Improve quality, because this is the only way of reconciling the collective concerns – promoting the public transport use to improve the quality of urban life – with the individual ones - preference for the advantages of private modes.

More than in others sectors, the quality requirement in the services sector requires commitment and involvement from all staff, in particular those in contact with the public. In order to be successful, a service enterprise must display customer focus, an involvement in customer service and, therefore the tools for achieving it.
