    Sustainable design for sustainable cities

RATP hosted UITP’s 4th Design Day in Paris last December.

THE FOURTH Design Day 'Sustainable design for sustainable cities', organised by UITP Design & Culture Platform took place in Paris, France, on 17-18 December. This was a good occasion to reflect on design choices for the development of our public transport networks while making sure we consider these as sustainable living places for future generations.

Various presentations underlined that public transport infrastructure and rolling stock must be integrated in the urban environment but not dominate it, and this requires the integration of design in the company strategy.

This event was hosted by RATP, one of the pioneers in sustainable design management as this company is very aware of its responsibility in respecting the cultural heritage of the network while continuing to develop the service to meet passengers' needs. Presentations are available in Mobi+ and on a CD-ROM.
