    Technical Visit
     

    Transport Lausanne, the local host for the 3rd Metro Conference, welcomes participants for a technical visit.  Before the visit begins, there will be an optional lunch (which is not included in the registration fee and is at delegate’s own expense).

     

    • 12:00 - Participants registered for the technical visit, and who wish to part in lunch, have tables reserved for them at the following hotel:

    • 14:00 - Participants will be transported from this hotel to the local host’s headquarters.

    The Metro Assembly shall be exceptionally open to non-UITP Assembly members for a high level presentation by UNIFE and UITP of the major outcomes of the European Project MODURBAN dealing mainly with the technical harmonization of metro subsystems. A more detailed (attendance free) technical presentation shall be organized in Metro Madrid on 16 December as the MODURBAN final conference, including on-site validation tests.

    Metro networks are the vital arteries of urban centres for business, living, education and entertainment. This has long been the case, but becomes increasingly true with the growing awareness for sustainable development. The share of urban rail in the total public transport supply is a factor of the attractiveness: public transport market share rises above 30% in cities where urban rail represents at least 70% of the supply.
