UITP Metro Assembly celebrates its 50th anniversary

    anniversary

Members of the Metro Division came in large numbers to attend the 83rd Assembly in Valencia on 4-5 October.

THE METRO Assembly held its 83rd meeting in Valencia, Spain, at the invitation of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) on 4-5 October. UITP President Roberto Cavalieri joined members to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Metro Assembly, formerly known as International Metropolitan Railway Committee (IMRC).

Among other activities, a contest was organised for the best photo capturing the ‘heart and soul’ of metros in the 21st century. We are happy to announce that the winner is Met.Ro Spa, Rome. Read more on this event in the issue 6-2007 of Public Transport International.

Members also shared their views and experiences during a strategic workshop entitled ‘How security contributes to service quality and customer satisfaction’.

Last but not least, the Assembly decided to organise the 3rd Metro Conference in Lausanne, Switzerland, on 4-5 December 2008.
