What is information technology and innovation?
Information technology (IT) is the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware. IT deals with the use of electronic computers and computer software to convert, store, protect, process, transmit and retrieve information data. This includes the field of electronic communication (ICT).
Innovation is the successful exploitation of new ideas in general and the process of making improvements by introducing something newin particular.

Introduction
The Information Technology and Innovation Commission was created in 1963 under the name of the International Commission on Automation.
Its mission is to discuss issues related to the development and use of new information technologies in public transport Companies and to increase awareness of public transport actors of the possibilities offered by innovation information technologies to improve transport management and attractiveness.

Missions and Issues
1. Mission
The Information Technology and Innovation Commission aims to discuss issues related to the development and use of new information technologies in public transport companies. It aims to increase awareness of public transport actors of the possibilities offered by innovative information technologies to improve transport management and attractiveness.
2. Issues
To fulfil the mission, the CA looks at the following issues:
1. Integration of information technologies in the city:
- Improving travel conditions :
- Information beacons
- Electronic purse
- Use of mobile phones in underground
- Advertising
- Integration of telecom and information technologies in other urban services
2. Improvement of transport operation:
- Monitoring vehicle movements (automated operation)
- Information to employee
- Information for passengers: before, just before, during
- Automatic fare collection
- Safety
3. Improvement of back office tools:
- Administrative tools (payments, stock management)
- Working tools (e.g. e-mail, intranet, internet)
- Processing tools (e.g. automated maintenance management)
