In order to achieve its advocacy objectives of promoting and defending public transport and to get its messages across, UITP engages with relevant international agencies and with other global networks and associations.
The purpose of these actions is to influence decisions and the content of agendas; develop and communicate evidence in support of public transport as well as support initiatives and programmes that are in the interest of public transport and/or UITP’s members.
Examples of advocacy actions include:
- Participating in international events, co-organsation of events or side-events
- Contributing to joint research and publications
- Taking an advisory role in initiatives, research and programmes
- Leading or participating in joint policy positions or campaigns
