The organisation of the programme has been entrusted to UITP’s Congress Programme Working Group which reports directly to UITP’s Policy Board. This working group will be responsible for the definition of the Congress programme1 based on the submitted papers and sessions.
The Congress audience is made primarily of transport professionals and policy officials rather than researchers. Therefore, the focus will be on assessing policies and actions of practical value for decision-makers.
A one-page abstract must accompany the application for either a session or a paper. This document will contain all the elements relative to the policy or action described: the objective, context, methodology, sources of information, implementation plan, evaluation, results, conclusions and practical recommendations.
Applications must be accompanied by a biographical note describing the author’s professional experience and education. Candidates should include their experience in addressing large audiences at regional or international events. All documents are sent in English only. Papers will be selected on the basis of the abstracts, with a focus on new and innovative information, quantifieable results and/or effects, and the experience of candidates.
In order to ensure a wide diversity of approaches, UITP particularly encourages papers presented jointly by experts from different parts of the sector (eg an operator and an authority; a manufacturer and an operator, etc). UITP will also aim at geographical balance of the programme.
UITP does not cover travel and accommodation costs and speakers must pay the appropriate registration fees specified in the registration form: Free-of-charge registration for the speakers attending UITP world congress only the day of their intervention; A reduced registration fee in other cases.
Speakers must be aware that the Congress Programme Working Group reserves the right to cancel their participation if they do not comply with these guidelines that will be sent during the selection course.
The number of speakers in any session must be limited to 3 in addition to the session chairperson. The proposal should include the speaker’s names and relevant information on their respective contribution (abstract and biographical note).
