    Specifically in Latin America region, there are more than 400 cities which have the electronic ticketing system deployed. Many of them need the improvement, and need to modernize the system, integrating the information system and fare collection system. It was estimated there are other 400 cities as a potential cities for electronic ticketing in a short period.

    According that this scenario, UITP Latin America Division is promoting an Assembly and Seminar about IT: ‘Challenges for operators, authorities and industries’, in Bogotá – Colombia - to discuss the local reality and exchange the different experiences, furthermore an analysis of trends for the coming years

    Will be presented the experiences of various cities with their ticketing systems, always showing the role of the authorities and operators to implement a system and what was the technology chosen. The participant will have a vision of Latin America in comparison to other regions of the world.

    Enclosing, there will be a roundtable with the participation of the social actors in public transport (authorities, operators and industry), and there will be the opportunity to discuss about the theme and develop a formulation of conclusions that will be published in the official report of the UITP, after the event.

    All this activity will be held in connection with the 10th anniversary of Transmilenio, the main BRT system in the region.
