UITP Light Rail Awards 2010

Following the success at the Light Rail Conference 2008 in Istanbul, this year in Madrid UITP is rewarding creativity, innovation and novelty in the field of light rail.
This competition is open to operating companies and organising authorities involved in light rail projects and the jury is composed of members of the UITP Light Rail Committee, which will decide on the relevance, merit and added value of the project.
Successful candidates will be notified by 15 July 2010 and the winners will be announced during the closing session of the UITP Light Rail Conference in Madrid on 20 October 2010.

The Categories

1) Best LRT urban integration project
True mobility providers will be rewarded for developing strategic partnerships with other public transport modes, car sharing and bike programmes, parking facilities, information providers, etc.

2) Best customer initiative 
Respond to customers’ needs, expectations and new life styles: which action has targeted best the various requirements the passengers?

3) Best staff loyalty and talent-attraction initiative
The Oscar goes to…organisations that keep their staff close and proud of their work as well as attract young professionals by developing innovative human resources practices.

4) Best environmental-friendly project
This is the accolade for making your system “greener” by recent implementations of innovative technologies, renovation and maintenance methods, etc.

5) Best light rail initiative
You have not found a category which fits, but you want your action to be awarded? Do it here! This is the wild card award. If you have achieved outstanding achievements linked to the development of your LR system – please do apply here.

 

Specific rules and conditions

• An abstract of maximum one page (in English) has to be sent explaining the context and stating the main characteristics and conditions of the project.
• Entries must include at least four images in .jpg, .tif, .psd or .eps format. One of these images should include a company logo.
• Extra reference material (DVD, brochure, power point presentation, video etc.) is welcomed.
• Each entry can only be made in one category.
• The jury reserves the right to re-assign entries from one category to another if appropriate.
• The jury’s decision is final.
• UITP accepts no responsibility for the loss or damage of any materials submitted.
• Entries cannot be returned.
