    Registration & accommodation

“Light rail is the fast-growing mode of public transportation in the United States. Since 2000, passenger trips on light rail have grown at a yearly average of almost 5%. During that period, 13 light rail systems have opened, bringing the total to 35 systems in the country.”
Robert Padgette, Director of Policy Development and Research at American Public Transportation Association, APTA, USA
“LRT demand is increasing in Madrid Region despite the economic crisis. This relatively new transport mode is, with 7.7 points over 10 on clients satisfaction surveys, one of the favourite ones within Madrid’s Public Transport System”.
Dionisio González, Director, CRTM, Madrid, Spain
“LRT integration in the city fabric maximizes the number of passengers and focuses the attention on short-range public transportation. Since 1997 Bremen has gained 10% of passengers in total; the actual increase of passengers exceeds all our expectations.”
Georg Drechsler, Chairman of the UITP Light Rail Committee and CEO Bremer Straßenbahn AG, Bremen, Germany
“Madrid developed 36 km of LRT lines in less than 3 years, continuing with the success of recent Infrastructure Extension Plans in our Region, adopting the best functional alternative to each mobility need”.
Antonio González, Director, MINTRA, Madrid, Spain
“The construction of a new light rail system and the re-introduction of urban rail service after the closing of the tram system which existed from 1897 until 1965 is a time of tremendous excitement in the City of Bergen. After over 40 years of discussion, planning, construction and implementation, Bergen is looking forward to a successful opening in June 2010. We fully expect that the public will demand immediate extensions and improvements to the entire public transport system.”
Thomas J. Potter, Chief Engineer, Bergen Bybanen, Norway
