    PROGRAMME DESIGN & SELECTION

The programme (with the exception of the Expo Forums which are designed by the Business Forum and Exhibitors Commission) is prepared by the UITP’s Congress Programme Committee on behalf of the Policy Board on the basis of the submitted material.

The Congress audience primarily comprises transport professionals and policy officials rather than researchers. The focus is thus on policies and actions of practical value for decision-makers.

A one-page abstract must accompany the presentation application. It will contain all the elements relative to the policy or action described: objective, context, sources of information, implementation plan, evaluation, results, conclusions and practical recommendations.

Commercial texts promoting particular products will only be accepted for the Expo Forums and from companies exhibiting in Dubai.

Applications must be accompanied by a biographical note describing the author’s professional experience and education. Candidates should include their experience in addressing large audiences. All documents are to be sent in English only. Papers will be selected on the basis of the abstracts, with a focus on quantifiable results and/or effects, the quality and significance, relevance and value to audience and congress topics as well as the experience of candidates.

In order to ensure a wide diversity of approaches, UITP particularly encourages profile diversity as well as geographical balance. Papers are to be submitted exclusively by ONE author. Co-authorship will not be authorised.

UITP does not cover travel and accommodation costs but speakers enjoy premium registration fee policy: Free-of-charge registration for the speakers attending the UITP World Congress only for the day of their presentation; a reduced registration fee in other cases.

Speakers must be aware that the Congress Programme Committee reserves the right to cancel their participation if they do not comply with the guidelines that will be sent during the selection process.

    1. A call for papers is organised for the parallel and plenary sessions.

    2. A second call for papers is organised for the Expo Forum sessions.
