About: 

Organised by the UITP SmaRT Platform (Small and medium sized agglomerations and Regional Transport)

From regular public transport lines to demand responsive transport, car-pooling, car-sharing and other
private initiatives, what are the current challenges faced by low density areas in providing a minimum level
of transport services? What are the possibilities offered by new technologies?

This workshop will debate on:

  • What exists today: current situation in different countries, problems of demand and funding
  • What is the future: current trends, new technologies and business models, social networks

The workshop will be held in English.

How to get to the venue
Airport: From Brussels International Airport:  the train “Brussels Airport Express” runs every 20 minutes during normal hours from Brussels Airport to Brussels Central Station (approximately 20 min. travel time).
Metro: ‘Gare Centrale/Centraal Station’ stop (lines 1 & 5).
Tram: ‘Royale’ tram stop (lines 92, 93).
Bus: ‘Gare Centrale’ bus stop (lines 29, 63, 65, 66), 'Bozar' bus stop (lines 38, 71), ‘Royale’ bus stop (lines 27, 95).
 
Nearest car parks:
The Albertine/Square car park is accessible via the “Rue des Sols”.
The Grand Place car park (beside the Méridien Brussels Hotel) is accessible via the “Boulevard de l'Impératrice”.
FEB’s offices are a short walk from the Central Railway Station (Bruxelles Centrale/Brussel Centraal). From the Railway station main hall, take the stairs on your right (when facing the big departure board) and walk towards the Galerie Ravenstein exit (same direction as “Bozar” or “Mont des Arts”).  Cross the street (Cantersteen – Kantersteen) and walk through the arcade (3 mins’ walk). You will then come out on Rue Ravenstein. FEB is located on your right, about 50 meters up the road.
