This module covers a diverse range of theoretical and practical topics, aiming to increase awareness to public transport security and to mitigate risks. It reviews the various threats faced by public transport systems, explains the security concept for these systems and details different security risk mitigation safeguards. It also explains the importance of being pro-active in order to detect threats of criminal and anti-social behaviour and terror incidents, report them and respond appropriately, using the skills and available tools, while operating within the framework of the defined areas of authority and legal framework. The module concludes with a ‘test your knowledge’ section and a lesson summary.
The module is intended for a broad targeted audience, from front-line staff – such as service personnel, to security and operational staff, operators in command and control rooms, and managers relevant to these employees among the junior, middle and senior management.
