The Maltese Presidency of the Council of the European Union with the support of UNIFE, UITP, EUROCITIES and POLIS will organise a European seminar on:
- Developing urban rail transport
- Environmental performances and financing solutions
This event will take place in Malta on 27 April (afternoon) and 28 April (morning) and will bring together representatives from European cities, urban transport authorities, the rail supply industry, the European Commission, the European Parliament, Members States and the European Investment Bank (EIB) with the objective to discuss the latest technological developments for sustainable and energy-efficient urban mobility, and how to help cities invest for in urban rail projects.
At a time where European urban areas are engaged in fighting against congestion and pollution, this event will be a unique opportunity to learn about best practices in Europe when it comes to:
- Developing an urban rail system (tram/metro) and integrating it in a multimodal public transport system
- Fining the way to finance the development of such an urban rail system (cf. EU grants, EFSI, EIB,...)
