About: 

The training programme Public Transport Fundamentals is a 3 day training specially designed for newcomers in the public transport sector. 

Objectives

  • Provide participants with fundamental knowledge on public transport and sustainable urban mobility
  • Explain why public transport is indispensable
  • Allow exchange of knowledge by tapping on UITP's international expertise 
  • Present basic definitions related to the organisation, administration and operation of public transport and illustrate them with examples
  • Increase awareness on main issues related to urban mobility
  • Provide a conducive platform for networking opportunities and interaction amongts participants 

Target Audience

  • Junior staff
  • Professionals entering the field of public transport (less than 2 years experience in public transport)
  • Applicants must have a good command of English to appreciate the programme 

Methodology

Each theme will be approached as follows:

  • Basic principles and conceptual approach
  • State of the art development and innovations
  • Good practices examples
  • Interactive exchange between participants and groups discussion with public transport specialists

From Zaventem airport to the suggested hotels / UITP office:

Brussels Airport has a train station in the basement of the terminal. The Airport City Express leaves from the station Zaventem (Airport) four times per hour and links the airport to the Brussels Central Station (Bruxelles-Central /Brussel-Centraal) in approximately 20 minutes.
