Grow with Bus Public Transport in Rio de Janeiro: call for papers

Buses have long since  suffered from a poor public image and are often perceived as noisy, polluting, unreliable, slow and uncomfortable... Yet low-floor technology has made it possible to significantly improve the image of the bus. Furthermore, in the last decade a genuine ‘propulsion supermarket’ of alternative fuels and drivetrains has emerged, offering a wide variety of clean fuel options to improve air quality, overcome noise pollution and meet additional policy targets . Hybrid and e-buses  are part of a range of options available, with the latter opening up new prospects for the electrification of diesel bus lines.

In line with the Grow with public transport campaign,  UITP will be organising the 8th UITP International Bus Conference, taking place in Rio, Brazil from 5 to 7 November 2014. This conference will be held in conjunction with 16th Etransport Congress and 10th FetransRio Exhibition.

The Conference will be a forum for sharing ideas and exchanging opinions on the burning issue of whether increasing bus transport usage can play an active role in reducing urban traffic congestion.
If you wish to be  a speaker during the 8th UITP International Bus Conference and thus ensure that your innovative best practice benefits from international exposure, log in to MyUITP and check out our call for papers. (For UITP members only)

You have until 5 March 2014 to get inspired!
