We are currently looking for a:


for a short-term mission of maximum 6 months. The mission is opened to both individuals for a fixed term contract or for digital agencies. In both cases, it requires the presence of the strategist in house in UITP offices in Brussels during the duration of the contract.


The mission of the Digital Strategist is to analyse the current digital ecosystem and its usage, identify the needs of our staff, members and customers, the missing connections, and propose recommendations to improve or complete our digital ecosystem to offer a proposal for seamless user experience of our digital tools.

This position is supervised by the Senior Director of the Strategy Department, and is closely related to the Strategy Department (Head of Communications, Digital Communications Officer, Projects Manager), IT & Finance Department (Head of IT), the Membership, Marketing & Services Department (Marketing Junior Manager, Business Development Manager).

The true measure of the mission’s success is when the role becomes unnecessary. This is why by its very nature, this mission is a definite duration contract.


The Digital Strategist acts strategically to meet business objectives and team goals following the newly established business plan; proactively seek out actionable and thought-provoking opportunities for the members and staff; and, are an influencer and drive for results.


The Digital Strategist must understand what the digital ecosystem users need. He will develop a deep and detailed view of user needs and behaviour across all internal and external channels to provide a common reference point in any digital discussions.


The Digital Strategist must look at how the organisation currently operates digitally (HLP), identify strengths, weaknesses and opportunities. In some cases, it could be as straightforward as working with IT to automate existing processes, injecting speed into those processes. But in others, it will require changing how the company works and ensure a seamless integration between all the tools of the digital ecosystem.


The digital strategist will review, in cooperation with the head of IT, the execution, coordination and optimisation of digital strategies across multiple parts of the business.
• Assessment phase
         o Lead a user needs’ assessment regarding the digital ecosystem of UITP, both internally (staff) and externally (members and customers);
         o Create maps and use cases of digital activities and touchpoints for primary audience categories;
         o Define the information architecture for the overall digital presence and activities (strengths, weaknesses, missing connections, new developments);
         o Use analytics to audit and improve digital experiences and outcomes;
         o Stay abreast of emerging digital technologies, media opportunities, approaches and strategies;
• Implementation phase
         o Plan, drive and coordinate integration of digital strategy across all channels;
         o Define a primary set of digital key performance indicators (KPIs), and develop and manage a dashboard reflecting progress toward each KPI;
         o Act as the catalyst for digital transformation, promoting cross-functional focus on customer experience (staff and members);
         o Own the testing of all digital platforms;
         o Collaborate with and advise other functions (members services, marketing and sales, communications, events, finance, etc)
         o Advise other functions on digital best practices spanning interface design, user experience, new capabilities, privacy laws and regulations, and digital strategy compliance


Our ideal candidate will have:
• A deep understanding of, and passion, for the entire digital ecosystem;
• Experience in a similar role, managing multi-faceted projects simultaneously;
• Deep technological (technical) and business capabilities;
• Relevant experience with CMS, CRM, project and financial management tools, email marketing and digital advertising;
• Patience to navigate the complex organisational structures of large businesses (building relationships is in your D.N.A.);
• Collaboration skills to get buy-in across functions and be able to diplomatically challenge the status quo and solidify relationships with a broad group of people;
• Leadership and charisma that excites the organization to drive change forward.
