| The survey ‘Latest figures on the urban bus fleet in the European Union’ provides data from EU cities of over 100.000 inhabitants, with reference to the year 2005. It includes figures on:
· the use of fuel and drive train technologies for buses,
· accessibility features for buses and trolleybuses,
· age and structure of the bus and trolleybus fleet operated.
The survey also contains information on procurement mechanisms and fleet management.
This is the first issue of a new series launched by UITP in May: ‘Public Transport Statistics Report’. Each issue will provide fresh in-depth data on a specific topic of strategic importance for the sector.
UITP has developed a range of products to offer quantitative and qualitative information on key aspects of public transport and urban mobility in order to provide urban planners, decision-makers and researchers with reliable and comparable data. Recently, UITP has launched the Mobility in Cities Database (data for year 2001). This study provides 120 indicators and it also contains information on urban transport policies implemented at urban level which enables to understand differences of performance between cities.
UITP promotes a holistic approach of public transport. By strengthening its position as a reference point for providing data on public transport and urban mobility, UITP seeks to better serve its members and to give an accurate image of what public transport represents for citizens and economy.
