UITP, in collaboration with the Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA), is organising the Singapore International Transport Congress and Exhibition, which will take place in Singapore from 19 to 21 October this year.
The event is widely seen as the leading congress and exhibition on urban mobility within the Asia Pacific region, and the theme this year will focus mainly on creating more liveable cities through the development of public transport.
Partly due to the massive urbanisation boom during the last ten years, the Asia Pacific region is currently home to 17 megacities. If this type of growth continues, the region might even have 22 megacities by 2030. This rapid pace of urban migration and densification is a clear sign that now is the time to address urban mobility challenges like congestion management, sustainable transport methods, and how technology and innovation enables better urban mobility.
Session topics include recent urban mobility challenges such as:
• Public transport and the smart city of tomorrow
• Pedestrianisation, walking and cycling
• High-speed rail systems and tramway systems
Additionally, UITP and LTA will also co-host an exhibition that will serve as a showcase of the latest industry developments, as well as present a unique networking opportunity for future projects.
