UITP members from 26 countries gathered in Brussels for the Association’s Annual Reception on 4 February. The event celebrated the work of UITP and its members in the previous year and was a moment to look forward to the advance of public transport in 2015.

UITP Secretary General, Alain Flausch, introduced the keynote speaker, Jean Christophe Victor . The well-known founder and the director of LEPAC, the think tank Center for Political Studies and Cartographic Analysis, and presenter of the TV programme “Underneath the maps,” offered an inspirational speech about rapid urbanisation around the world and its impact on sustainability, rising car ownership in developing countries as well as practical lessons.

The reception was also the opportunity to celebrate and reflect on the career of Helga Severyns, UITP Senior Director Special Projects and to thank her for all the years working for the development the Association.

This was the second edition of the UITP Annual Reception and we are looking forward to our members attending the next one in 2016.
