With the objective of influencing the international, regional, national and local public transport agenda, UITP engages and develops partnerships with different organisations around the world.
UITP works closely with the United Nations and its agencies (UNEP, UNHABITAT, WHO, UNFCCC, UNCSD, UNESCO), with the International Labour Organization (ILO), the International Transport Forum ( ITF) and the G20 amongst others.
UITP also engages with the Asian Development Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the World Bank to help with one of the main challenges facing UITP members, namely the financing of public transport.
UITP is a member of Bridging the Gap (www.transport2020.org ) which is a multi-stakeholder initiative to link climate change and land transport more closely and gain better recognition of its potential in mitigating GHG emissions. This is further strengthened by supporting SLoCaT, the Sustainable Low Carbon Transport Partnership (www.slocat.net) which promotes the integration on sustainable transport in global policies on sustainable development and climate change.
