    Public transport and large events

THE FINAL results of the UITP Working Group on Public Transport and Large Events will be officially presented at the 58th World Congress in Vienna during a workshop on Wednesday 10 June. A debate gathering event owners, political representatives and public transport companies will be moderated by Philippe Bovy, Professor emeritus of Transport, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and IOC Transport Advisor, who also acts as external expert to the working group.
The workshop will be complemented by a technical visit to the extension of the underground line 2 and the station ‘Stadion’ that was especially designed for large events and built for the Football World Cup 2008. Read more information

    Transport and Urban Life

TRANSPORT for London (TfL) welcomed members of the Transport and Urban Life Commission in the British capital on 2-3 April. During the meeting members set out to improve the partnerships between public transport and the business community. The Commission will seek to put public transport at the heart of the localisation strategies and mobility solutions developed by companies and business parks.

A special session on the impact of the financial and economic crises on urban life gave members the opportunity to have an exchange on the consequences on public transport demand and infrastructure projects as well as on the role the sector plays in the recovery plans worldwide.
