Energy Crisis? Climate Change? Breathe Easy
How a properly-balanced transport system can help preserve and improve our urban environment
UITPANZ pursues an assertive lobbying campaign to advance “public transport friendly” initiatives in the areas of taxation policy, infrastructure investments and full cost-recovery from automobiles. Regular meetings have been held with bureaucrats, ministerial advisers and politicians in Canberra and other States/Territories of Australia.
The establishment of the National Passenger Transport Alliance between the Australian Bus Industry Confederation, The Australasian Railways Association and UITP provided a new opportunity for promoting the new direction for specific passenger transport issues in the region.
UITPANZ’s “Climate Change” Policy, advocating a direction for reform in urban mass transport, has been promoted to parties of all political persuasions and decision-makers Australia-wide. This has included a number of key recommendations in the area of public transport and taxation
