    Seminar on bus services in Turkey attracts worldwide players

    OVER 200 public transport players from all parts of the globe attended the regional seminar,‘Improving service quality in urban and regional bus services’, organised jointly by UITP, Temsa Global and Adana Metropolitan Municipality in Adana, Turkey on 17-18 November.

    Participants included representatives from authorities, operators, industry and consultancies from many different countries: the United Arab Emirates, Czech Republic, Jordan, Canada, Sweden, Australia, Belgium, Spain, Iran, Syria, Palestine, Oman and Tunisia. The event was also attended by the sector’s main associations in Turkey: the Private Bus Association (TOHOB), the Tourism Transportation Association (TTDER), the Federation of Buses and Operators (TOFED) and Istanbul Public Transportation Association (ISTAB).

    The seminar opened with speeches by Mehmet Buldurgan, CEO of Temsa Global; Aytaç Durak, Lord Mayor of Adana Metropolitan Municipality and Chairman, Turkish Union of Municipalities; and Enis Hemedoglu, UITP Turkey Office Manager. Prof Dr Mustafa Ilicali, Advisor to the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, delivered a keynote speech on the importance of buses in public transportation.

    Topics under discussion included service quality, diversifying services, technological solutions, innovation in bus design, fleet management and contracts.
