    Latin America

The first BRT workshop took place in Bogota, Colombia, and Sao Paulo, Brazil, in March.

UITP’s Latin America Division organised the first BRT workshop in Bogota, Colombia and Sao Paulo, Brazil from 2 to 6 March. A select group of authorities and bus operators shared experiences from different cities and debated about new and innovative concepts for planning, operation and management of bus systems.

The programme, coordinated by Oscar Sbert Lozano, Honorary Chairman of the Bus Committee, featured 10 speakers who presented the most sophisticated concepts for bus systems to a total of 25 participants from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, India and Peru.

The audience was also briefed on a large number of new projects that are emerging all over the continent, where participants found an area of interest, whether for new projects in their cities or the improvement of existing systems.

Technical visits to the bus systems of Sao Paulo and Bogota complemented the workshop.

A note of thanks to the team of transport systems which allowed us to make a great success of this event: SPTRANS, EMTU São Paulo, ITDP, Sí 99 and TransMilenio.
