North America

UITP has a history of working closely with the two principal public transport associations in North America, the American Public Transport Association (APTA) and the Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA).

Cooperation agreements have allowed for a greater exchange of services between these associations and UITP in complimentary spheres of activity.

A substantial result has been more access to international best practices and information by North American public transport actors, and an increased knowledge and input on North American good practices at UITP.

The urban transit association of Quebec (ATUQ) gathers the 9 public transport agencies of Quebec. ATUQ promotes public transport and defends the interests of its members vis-à-vis the public, industry partners as well as governmental agencies. It is also a forum for exchange between its members.
