Twin city Liner
During the summer, the reduced water level of the Danube canal makes the use of normal passenger ships hazardous. The Central Danube Region has chosen an alternative, innovative ship design developed by the Norwegian ship builder Båtservice Mandal. This ultra-light aluminium catamaran with a pump jet propulsion system was especially designed for passenger service between Vienna and Bratislava. Travelling at high-speed (up to 60 km/h), the Twin City Liner offers the highest standards of comfort including full air-conditioning, comfortable first-class seats, picture windows, a panorama deck and a snack bar.
The Wien Holding company, DDSG Blue Danube Schiffahrt GmbH, operates the Twin City Liner. This project represents a major contribution of the Central Danube Region to the goal of developing public-private partnerships (PPP) in the region set by the two shareholders Wien Holding and Raiffeisenlandesbank
Lower Austria –Vienna.
