Michèle Dix, Chairwoman of UITP’s Prescom, left her role as Transport for London’s (TfL) managing director of planning to become managing director of Crossrail 2 on 5 February.

Crossrail 2 is the proposed new high-frequency, high-capacity rail line running through London and into Surrey and Hertfordshire. It will add capacity to the rail network in London and the south east, supporting economic regeneration by providing the infrastructure needed to build new homes and create more jobs.

Dr. Dix has a busy start to 2015: apart from taking on her new role, she has also been honoured by the Queen with a CBE (Commander of the Order of the Empire) for the services to the transport industry. She has been described as “the best transport planner in Britain” by London’s transport commissioner and UITP president Sir Peter Hendy.

The appointment of Michele Dix underlines the critical position that Crossrail 2 plays in London’s future transport plans.
