Due to the ongoing developments with the global pandemic, it’s important that UITP makes the right decisions for everyone involved in our international events, within the best possible timeline.
After initially moving the date of the next MTCE (Middle East and North Africa Transport Congress and Exhibition) from April 2020 to October of this year, it has become clear to us that to provide everyone involved with the very best edition possible, we must take another look at the timing.
With all aspects taken into consideration, we’ve made the joint decision with our co-host Roads and Transport Authority Dubai (RTA) to move the next edition to 29-31 March 2021. It remains at the same venue, the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).
UITP has been closely following the impacts of COVID-19 since the outbreak began, and what it has meant for our global activities. By moving the next edition of the MTCE, we know that this is the best decision for all involved.
Bringing the international public transport sector together is a source of great pride for UITP: we can’t do this without the ongoing support of our membership and all of the stakeholders who help to make our industry what it is.
Therefore it’s important for UITP and the public transport sector that we get the opportunity to discuss the next steps for urban mobility in the MENA region and beyond.
“The MENA Congress and Exhibition is always an event that UITP and our membership looks forward to. As a global event, it’s important to bring all the relevant voices together to share ideas and advance urban mobility in the MENA region. During these challenging times, we continue to listen closely to all of the information and advice coming from the competent authorities, our partners, and members. With MTCE moving to March 2021, we will allow for more time to build on our ideas and anticipate an edition to remember come next March.” said Mohamed Mezghani, UITP Secretary General
We know that we can build an edition to remember with your ongoing support.
“By moving the next edition of the MENA Transport Congress and Exhibition to March 2021 it will allow us the time to hopefully see matters normalise and bring a valuable and anticipated edition to all of our participants and guests. We look forward to bringing together those with a vested interest in the future of public transport in the MENA region.” said Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, Member of RTA Board of Executive Directors and Chairman of UITP MENA Transport Congress and Exhibition Committee.
Under the theme, “Building the Future of Mobility”, the event brings together the key urban mobility players within the MENA region.
Held since 2007, the MENA Transport Congress and Exhibition is a biennial event promoting public transport throughout the region.
It’s important to remain flexible during these uncertain times and to represent the current situation we may find ourselves in next year. If the global situation does not allow for a full in-person event come March, we will move to a hybrid-style edition.
We believe that we can still put on a great event for you, adapted to suit the needs of that moment.
No matter what, the next edition of the MENA Transport Congress and Exhibition will take place with your support!
Well we’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of our partners, sponsors, exhibitors and speakers and count on their continued support to make the event an even greater success next March.
