World report on metro automation

Automated metro lines are a proven solution for metro systems around the world. As of July 2016, there are 55 fully automated metro lines in 37 cities around the world, operating in total 803km, a 14,2% increase in km over 2014 figures. The projection is that by 2025 there will be 2,300km of automated metro lines in operation. This report offers a general overview of metro automation, covering line characteristics, technological trends, supplier market share and estimated future evolution.

CONTEXT

Public transport plays a key role in the mobility of people in the world, and particularly in Africa. Whence the commitment of UATP to promote the development of public transportation in all the activities it organizes.

Dubai city and the city-state Singapore are both growing cities, emerging with best transport systems that are among the most popular in the world. They have public transport networks very developed, effective and practical access, and contribute significantly to their social and economic booms.

MENA CTE (Dubai)

The MENA Centre for Transport Excellence was launched as a joint effort between Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) and UITP in December 2011. The Centre will contribute to unifying regional efforts to implement sustainable transport systems in all MENA countries.
