Life Programme
€5.4 billion (2021-2027, MFF)
LIFE is the EU programme for environment and climate action. Its four sub-programmes cover nature and biodiversity, circular economy and quality of life, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and the clean energy transition.
Public transport organisations may participate in projects delivering measurable environmental or climate benefits, including emission reductions, improved air quality and greater resilience, where these match the relevant call priorities.
LIFE is generally unsuitable for projects whose sole objective is routine transport infrastructure construction or fleet procurement. Equipment, infrastructure and other expenditure must comply with the applicable topic and grant cost rules.
Many Standard Action Projects receive up to 60% co-financing. Certain Clean Energy Transition coordination and support actions can receive up to 95%. The precise rate depends on the call.
Current call information – the main 2026 environment and climate Standard Action Project deadlines have passed. Applicants should consult the official call calendar and distinguish new application opportunities from later stages of procedures that have already started.
