The UITP Academy, in collaboration with RATP Group, is launching an in-person training programme on Automated Metros, between 6-8 October 2026. The course will be 3 days including international case studies.

This intensive programme provides a comprehensive overview of automated metro systems, from strategic decision-making and project development to operations, maintenance, and human factors.

Participants will explore the evolution of metro automation, Grades of Automation (GoA), and the global landscape of Unattended Train Operations (UTO).

The course covers the full lifecycle of automated metro projects — including planning, design, construction, signalling systems such as Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC), cybersecurity, safety, and public security considerations.

Through real-world case studies and operator experience sharing, participants will gain practical insights into both greenfield and brownfield automation projects, as well as the transformation of conventional lines into fully automated systems.

By combining technical foundations, operational perspectives, and human-centred approaches, this programme equips transport professionals with the knowledge and tools needed to successfully plan, implement, and manage automated metro systems.
