UITP and New Jersey Transit are organizing a training on Safety and Reliability Management in Public Transport on 23-25 September 2026 in New Jersey, USA.

Safety and reliability are crucial and indispensable characteristics of all modes of public transport systems as well as bus and rail. They are the most important ones for ensuring people to use public transport services.

Safety management systems, including risk and crisis management, play pivotal roles to be ready for emergency cases and act according to roles and responsibility defined in the safety plans and procedures.

In railways all safety activities in project life cycle defined in a set of standards called RAMS. Similarly, there are safety standards applicable to buses as well.
