Introduction

Join this webinar on bi-directional single-lane bus lanes (BSBL), organised by UITP in partnership with CEREMA, attached to the French Ministry of Transport.

Designed as a virtual ‘observatory’, the webinar brings together use cases from around the world so you can discover different approaches, hear feedback and experiences, and learn how the bus sector can build on them.

This approach can free up limited urban space for comfortable and safe footpaths and cycle routes, while supporting environmental measures such as tree planting and soil infiltration and reducing investment costs.

What will you learn?

You will learn about the concept of bi-directional single-lane bus lanes (BSBL) and discover the different types of infrastructure arrangements.

You will explore how bi-directional single-lane bus lanes can improve the performance of bus and coach routes without requiring dedicated bus lanes in both directions.

You will also learn about the implementation of this type of infrastructure, improving the efficiency of bus routes and networks, and return on investment.

The webinar will explore innovative solutions for space-constrained urban environments, including single-lane infrastructure, reversible lane schemes and contraflow arrangements.

In addition, you will explore a map of existing examples from around the world.

Who should attend?

This webinar is for you if you are interested in buses operating on urban or non-urban routes, whether you work for a public transport operator or authority, represent the sector, work for an engineering consultancy, or are an academic or researcher.

It is also relevant if you are a student specialising in mobility and urban planning, with a focus on sustainable development.

You do not need to have a specific role dedicated to improving bus infrastructure, as this type of technical position does not exist in every organisation.
