Electric Bus Battery Management

Dr. Noshin Omar obtained his M.S. degree in Electronics and Mechanics from Erasmus University College Brussels. He obtained his PhD in 2012 in the department of Electrical Engineering and Energy Technology ETEC, at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium.

Since 2012 until April 2019, he was is the director of the Battery Innovation Center of VUB, where he coordinated several national and European projects in the field of characterisation, electrical, thermal, electrochemical and lifetime modelling of various rechargeable energy storage systems. He was and is still active in various European projects such as SUPERLIB, BATTERIES2020, FIVEVB, ORCA, GHOST, IMAGE, OBELICS, ASSURED (coordinator). He is author of more than 200 scientific publications.

His research interests include characterization, modeling (electrical, thermal, ageing) and system development of electrical double-layer capacitors and batteries in BEV’s, PHEV’s, HEV’s and stationary applications. He is also active in several international standardization committees such as IEC TC21, ISO/TC 22/SC 37.

Since April 2019, he is the CEO and Founder of Avesta Battery & Energy Engineering in Belgium.

Claudius Jehle is founder and CEO of volytica diagnostics GmbH, a company focusing on easy, safe and independent battery quality and health assessment. Claudius studied Mechanical Engineering and System Identification in TU Munich and TU Delft until 2012, and was then leading the research group Energy Storage Diagnostics and Telematics at the Fraunhofer Institute for Transportation and Infrastructure Systems IVI, Dresden, from 2013 until 2019.

Besides his role as CEO, Claudius is giving lectures on Battery Basics and Battery Degradation, writing knowledge base articles and is giving speeches and presentation on the global topic of batteries, the involved value chains and the potentials around independent battery diagnostics.

Prior to joining Microgrid Labs, I worked in Siemens, which has given me a well-rounded skill set and a deep understanding of the challenges facing our customers. I am constantly seeking out new opportunities for growth and learning, and I am always looking for ways to push the boundaries of what is possible in our industry. I believe that my work at Microgrid Labs is an extension of my personal values and passions. Roby Moyano is a seasoned professional in the energy sector, currently serving as Head of Product and co-founder at Bia, where he leads the development of optimized charging software for electric vehicle fleets. Prior to this role, he gained valuable experience at companies like Telefónica, Edenway, General Electric, SEAT, and Bertin Technologies, focusing on energy management and consulting. Roby holds a degree in Power Systems Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and Ecole Centrale de Paris.

Industrial Engineering Degree specializing in Electricity, from the University of Basque Country. Since 2001 he has held various engineer positions in different industries. In 2018 he joined EMT Madrid as the Cable Car Operation Manager. Nowadays he is the manager of Fuencarral Bus Depot, in charge of a 750 bus fleet, including e-buses.

Jost Geweke is responsible for business development and sales at PSI Transcom GmbH.

His focus is on the electrification of bus fleets and its impact on operations.

ITCS and train management solutions in the railway sector are another major field of activity.

He is a lawyer, has held management positions in the energy sector in Europe, and has been working in the public transport sector for many years.
