Webinar: Diversity & Inclusion: Harassment in Public Transport

Before becoming Diversity Manager at STIB-MIVB in January 2019, I had been responsible for Diversity and Inclusion in the private sector for three years. I have always been a people person, an advocate against injustice, driven by impact no matter how small. I have moved at least 15 times in my life, living in the Netherlands, the US, the UK, Japan and currently residing in Belgium. At STIB-MIVB I am responsible for the D&I analysis, strategy and implementation. In 2019/2020 we developed a huge campaign against sexism in the workplace. My passion and speciality is Unconscious Bias.

Engr. Abimbola Akinajo is a Chartered Civil Engineer (both in the UK and Nigeria) with over three decades post qualification experience, gained substantially in the design and delivery of major transport (both Rail and Road) infrastructure projects.
She earned a B.Sc. (Hons) Civil Engineering from the University of Lagos, Nigeria after which she proceeded to the UK where she started her engineering career. 

As the Managing Director of LAMATA, she has delivered life-impacting transport projects which have accentuated The Lagos State Governor’s first pillar of the THEMES agenda–Traffic Management and Transportation. These include the completion of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line project, the implementation of the Red Line Rail project, the facilitation of infrastructures i.e. bus terminals, depots and bus stops to improve public transportation, the launch of e-ticketing powered by Cowry Card, and other various projects.

Sabine Trier has served as the Deputy General Secretary of the European Transport Workers’ Federation (ETF) since 2005. Based in Brussels, Belgium, the ETF represents over 5 million workers in the transport sector, from over 200 unions and 38 European countries. Sabine has directly engaged in work on labour rights within European transport legislation in the Railway, Road Transport, Inland Navigation and Urban Public Transport sectors, negotiated Article 155 agreements within the European Social Dialogue as well as leading work on Sustainable Transport Policies and Gender Equality. Sabine brings prior experience from roles at the European Parliament and at sectoral level in Germany and is presently nominated as delegate in the CCMI within the EESC.
