Mohamed Mezghani has been working in the field of public transport and urban mobility for more than 35 years in an international context. Since January 2018, he has served as Secretary General of UITP, the International Association of Public Transport, which he first joined in 1999.
At UITP, he has managed and led numerous membership-related services, including knowledge activities such as professional training, research projects, thematic studies, technical advice, conferences, networking initiatives, and the information centre.
Over the course of his career, Mohamed has led advocacy campaigns, technical assistance projects, studies, and professional events in more than 70 countries across all continents, engaging with international organisations, governments, mobility professionals, and academia.
Since June 2024, he has also served as President of the European Society of Association Executives (ESAE).
Graduated in Industrial Engineering (1987) with a Master’s in Transport (1988), Mohamed combines technical expertise with strategic vision. His leadership is guided by a “People First” philosophy, recognised for building trust, empowering teams, and fostering collaboration across cultures and regions. He strongly believes that public transport is not only about moving vehicles, but about connecting people and improving lives.
