UITP Academy, in partnership with its Regional Training Centre Technologie Region Karlsruhe, is launching an in-person training programme on Artificial Intelligence in Public Transport from 13 to 15 October 2026. This three-day course will include international case studies.
In today’s fast-paced world, the public transport industry is evolving rapidly, and technology is playing a pivotal role. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning are transforming public transport by enhancing efficiency, customer experience, and operational intelligence.
This training programme will provide a comprehensive understanding of AI applications in public mobility, equipping participants with the knowledge, tools, and insights needed to navigate the future of intelligent transport systems.
Through expert-led discussions and case studies, participants will explore real-world AI applications that optimise service reliability, passenger experience, and resource allocation.
The course will highlight data-driven decision making and demonstrate how AI leverages big data to improve transport networks. It will also address the challenges of AI implementation, including organisational change, ecosystem integration, and risk management.
This course builds on a year-long research project on Artificial Intelligence in Mass Public Transport.
More than 100 experts from authorities, operators, industry providers, and academia contributed to the research, offering insights on the future of AI in public transport and helping define key building blocks for the sector to successfully begin its AI journey.
The extensive knowledge gathered through the research, combined with experience from early AI adopters in public transport and beyond, will be shared during the training.
