Alok JAIN, Managing Director, Trans-Consult Lt, Hong Kong

Natural disasters are major events that affect human life. Earthquakes and water floods are two of them that impact public transport operations. Being prepared for natural disasters, successfully management of crisis management at the time of disaster and starting the interrupted public transportation service after the disaster are important issues that public transportation administrations should consider. While the resistance of public transport networks, infrastructures and operational buildings to disasters are the subjects to be taken into account during the project phase, the redundancy of control and management systems is also indispensable for public transport systems.
