How to Reach the Training Venue by Public Transport – Istanbul

We are delighted to welcome you to the UITP Training on Public Transport for Mega Events, hosted at Metro Akademi, Yenikapı – Istanbul. Please find below detailed directions to the venue, starting with airport arrivals:

From Istanbul Airport (IST)

You have two convenient options:

  1. By Metro (Recommended for Speed & Reliability)
    • Take the M11 Metro Line from Istanbul Airport in the direction of Kağıthane.
    • At Kağıthane Station, transfer to the M7 Line towards Mecidiyeköy.
    • At Mecidiyeköy Station, transfer to the M2 Line towards Yenikapı.
    • Get off at Yenikapı Metro Station. The venue (Metro Akademi) is just a 5-minute walk within the Metro Station 
    • Total travel time: approx. 65–75 minutes.
  2. By Airport Shuttle (Havaist)
    • Take the Havaist Shuttle directly to Yenikapı.
    • The shuttle stop is right next to Yenikapı Metro and Marmaray Stations, a short walk to the venue.
    • Travel time: approx. 45–60 minutes, depending on traffic.

A taxi from Istanbul Airport to Yenikapı takes about 40 minutes.

From Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW)

You have two options:

  1. By Metro (Recommended)
    • From Sabiha Gökçen Airport, take the M4 Metro Line towards Kadıköy.
    • At Ayrılık Çeşmesi Station, transfer to the Marmaray Line.
    • Take Marmaray towards Halkalı and get off at Yenikapı Marmaray Station.
    • Follow the underground passage to Yenikapı Metro Station and walk to the venue (5 minutes) within the station.
    • Total travel time: approx. 65–80 minutes.
  2. By Havabus Shuttle
    • Take the Havabus Shuttle to Taksim.
    • From Taksim Metro Station, take the M2 Line directly to Yenikapı.
    • Exit at Yenikapı Station and walk a few minutes to the venue.
    • Total travel time: approx. 70–90 minutes.

A taxi from Sabiha Gökçen Airport takes about 60 minutes.

By Metro (Within Istanbul)

  • M1A, M1B, and M2 Lines all connect to Yenikapı Metro Station.
  • Follow signs for Metro İstanbul Genel Müdürlük / Metro Akademi once you arrive.

By Marmaray (From Asian Side)

  • If coming from Üsküdar, Kadıköy, or Ayrılık Çeşmesi, take the Marmaray Line and get off at Yenikapı Station.
  • Follow the underground passage to Yenikapı Metro and then to the venue.

By Bus

  • Many IETT buses stop at Yenikapı Metro / Marmaray.
  • From the bus stop, the venue is just a few minutes on foot.

We encourage all participants to use Istanbul’s integrated public transport system. Yenikapı is the city’s main transport hub, making it the easiest meeting point from anywhere in Istanbul.
