This training aims to provide public transport professionals with a comprehensive understanding of the latest trends, technologies, and integration strategies in shared mobility. Participants will learn practical methods for implementing, managing, and enhancing shared mobility services in synergy with existing public transport infrastructure, with a strong focus on sustainable and people-centred urban mobility.

Furthermore, how shall these services be combined with public transport? One-size fits all is not sufficient any more and more customized services are needed. From the development of a single mode of transport to the provision of an attractive mobility service offer, the core activity of public transport companies are evolving from running vehicles to moving people from doorstep to doorstep. Hence, as a mass transport provider, the role of public transport is essential for the provision of a combined offer of real mobility services (or Mobility as a Service – MaaS), which will be at the centre of discussions during this course.

For each of these services the course will also address the implications for local and national regulation and policies, the governance and cooperation of stakeholders as well as the development of successful business models.

Programme

Welcome and Introduction

09:00 09:30
Session 1

Today, digitalization and new technologies is opening up the way to new types of mobility services: new transport means are emerging; intermodal and shared services are thriving with vehicles and people being increasingly interconnected. This is revolutionizing and disrupting the way mobility is provided in our cities: in particular, new generations have less interest in (car) ownership, but more in the experience of travel. But how to preserve the “spontaneous” lifestyle offered by private cars? Digital development and information technologies can meet these needs with alternative mobility solutions. However, to be fully inclusive, new business models are needed, which must include mass transport providers, local authorities and new mobility providers.
