The Bus Talks on Network Planning webinar series is an initiative of the UITP Bus Committee’s Bus Network Planning workstream members to disseminate knowledge and reports developed over recent years and to open discussion with multiple stakeholders on the network design and operations domain.

The series will consist of a set of webinars throughout 2026, to be announced progressively and open to UITP members and, exceptionally, to non-members.

Each session brings together public transport professionals from operators, authorities, cities and industry to exchange practical insights on key bus topics shaping urban mobility today, focusing on real-world experiences, lessons learned and emerging trends to support better decision-making in bus planning and operations.

The first webinar, Night shift: Let’s discuss night bus networks, will explore the specific challenges and opportunities of designing services for night bus networks.

The session aims to create a discussion space on how network planning principles differ between day and night operations, the influence of the urban context, travel demand patterns, and safety considerations, and how cities adapt their services to meet nighttime mobility needs.

Through experts and real-world case studies from public transport authorities, operators, and planning experts, participants will be invited to get insights into successful approaches, with a special focus on the gender dimension of night travel and the perspectives and safety needs of women using public transport at night, and to actively contribute and participate in the discussion during the question-and-answer session and the written chat.
