Governance

The UITP governance structure is made up of numerous bodies which interact with each other and together make sure that the Association is managed democratically, transparently and efficiently.
General Assembly
The General Assembly is composed of all the members of UITP and meets at least once every year.
The General Assembly exercises the full power of the international association as stated in the Bylaws, which are the rules established to regulate UITP.
Executive Board
UITP is administered by the Executive Board, which implements the decisions of the General Assembly.
The Executive Board is responsible for all decisions relating to the administration and financing of UITP.
The Executive Board is composed of the President, the Chairs of the Divisions and country representatives with seats allocated according to the rules established in the Bylaws.

The Divisions
The UITP Divisions divide UITP members based on their region (Africa, Asia-Pacific, Australia & New Zealand, Eurasia, Europe, Latin America, Middle East and North Africa, North America) and their specific fields of activity (Bus, Industry, Light Rail, Metro, Public Transport & Mobility Authorities, Regional & Suburban Railways, Shared Mobility, Waterborne).
All UITP members are thus a part of at least two Divisions. Most Divisions have one or more Committees.
The Committees
UITP Division Committees are established by the General Assembly upon proposal of the Executive Board. The Thematic Committees are established by the Policy Board. They bring together a limited number of experts from among the UITP members.
The Committees function as the active working bodies of UITP, setting goals and strategies as well as developing a wide range of projects and initiatives.
These experts actively work on key issues for a Division or on a transversal thematic topic.
