When a new President begins their term at UITP, it’s an exciting time for the association and our members.

During their tenure, they advocate for public transport through a wide range of activities and opportunities, leading the Executive Board and working alongside our Secretary General, our team of international colleagues, and our global membership every step of the way.

Now, due to recent changes in our leadership, UITP is introducing our new President a little earlier than expected.

UITP is pleased to welcome Gautier Brodeo as President, beginning his new term from Friday 21st November 2025.

As Director of the Operation and Maintenance Development Agency for RATP Group, Gautier has more than 25 years of experience in public transport.

Skilled in team building, negotiating, and change management, Gautier will bring these skills to the UITP Presidency.

Earlier this month, UITP announced President Renée Amilcar’s plans to step down from her role.

Due to necessary commitments to her new role as Chief Executive Officer and President of Mobilité Infra Québec, Renée must focus on her position in Québec, resulting in an earlier end to her latest two-year mandate. We thank Renée once again for her service and dedication to UITP and our members.

“I am truly honoured to become the new President of UITP. The association is rich in activities and deliverables, and I commit to continuing the important Strategic Plan roll out, with people at the heart of that direction. I am also very grateful to Renée Amilcar for her inspiring leadership, and I look forward to bringing my own experience to the future of UITP.” Gautier Brodeo, UITP President

From Metro Line Manager, and Senior Adviser, to Director of the Operation and Maintenance Development Agency, Gautier has a wealth of experience and interaction across urban mobility.

Gautier also has a wide breadth of experience within UITP, having served as Deputy President, Chair of the Metro Division, and a member of the Executive Board.

But his experience in UITP goes beyond our Boards, as more than ten years ago Gautier joined UITP as an expert on urban and suburban rail, then becoming Chair of the Regional and Suburban Railway Committee.

Educated at ESTP (Ecole Spéciale des Travaux Publics), Gautier graduated as a civil engineer, and earned a Master of Science in Construction Management from the University of Birmingham.

Alongside our announcement of Gautier as President, UITP is pleased to introduce Lilli Matson as the association’s new Deputy President.

Lilli is an experienced leader in safety and sustainable development, with a range of senior level roles at Transport for London and in consulting that seen her make decisions to move sustainability forwards. Her enduring reputation as a strategic thinker has seen her lead urban transport safety and environmental policy, with a focus on delivering safer, healthier cities and sustainable growth.

She is currently Chief Safety, Health and Environment Officer at Transport for London, where she is the lead for safety, sustainability and TfL’s transition to net zero. She has helped lead the development of London’s 20-year transport, safety and environmental strategies, ensuring TfL has clear targets to become a healthier, safer, greener city.

"I am thrilled to become the Deputy President of the UITP and I’m looking forward to working with Gautier and Mohamed. Transport is more than going from A to B, it helps unlock jobs, supports new homes and helps economies grow. I am passionate about the work of UITP and the joint mission we all share to progress public transport for wider benefits.” Lilli Matson, UITP Deputy President

Lilli’s longstanding career in public transport builds on her education at London Business School and Imperial College London where she gained a MSc in Environmental Technology.

She is a Trustee at London Transport Museum, a Board member for the Environment Agency and has held several other senior board and government advisory roles.

Lilli has supported the work of the UITP Policy Board and became a member of the UITP Executive Board as National Ambassador, UK in June 2025. In previous years she has worked as a member of the UITP Sustainable Development Committee; supported the development of the Policy Brief on Climate Adaptation and Resilience for public transport networks – which she has presented at the most recent UITP Summit.

“I am delighted to welcome Gautier as our new President and Lilli as Deputy President. Gautier brings deep experience across our association and the wider public transport sector, and I know his commitment to collaboration and innovation will help guide UITP with confidence and clarity. Lilli’s leadership role and experience within Transport for London, and her impressive past contributions to our Policy Board, make her an ideal fit for our leadership team. On behalf of UITP, I thank Renée for her outstanding leadership and dedicated service, and as we look ahead, I am confident that Gautier and Lilli will continue to strengthen our mission and support our membership in advancing public transport.” Mohamed Mezghani, UITP Secretary General

The term for the new President and Deputy President will be until the next UITP General Assembly in June 2026.

UITP is delighted to welcome Gautier and Lilli to their new roles – congratulations!
