UITP Joins Rail Sector Call for a Successor to Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking
UITP is one of the signatories of the European rail sector’s joint position paper, calling for a successor to Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking under Horizon Europe/FP10 and the European Competitiveness Fund.
The European rail sector supports the Commission’s proposals for the next EU budget (2028–2034), including the new European Competitiveness Fund and FP10, which together signal strong commitment to EU competitiveness and the green and digital transitions.
To ensure these investments deliver real benefits across Europe, the sector calls for:
- creating a successor to Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking;
- ensuring a robust budget for rail research, innovation, and deployment;
- maintaining inclusive partnerships across the sector;
- strengthening synergies between all EU funding instruments for transport;
- and involving sector stakeholders in shaping the links between FP10, the ECF, national plans, and CEF-Transport.
