SAFE BUS strengthened public bus network security across Europe through e-learning programs, harmonised safety procedures, and close collaboration between transport operators and security services.
SAFE BUS Brings Together Public Transport and Security Services
The general objective of SAFE BUS was to advance safety and security in public bus networks by bringing together special security services and the public transport sector, ensuring that all transport providers had access to knowledge about transport safety and emergency procedures.
Coordinated by UITP, the project introduced new training initiatives on the security of public bus transportation systems for both managers and bus drivers, enriched safety procedures, and implemented ready-to-use recommended solutions.
Furthermore, SAFE BUS contributed to the creation of joint concepts in the field of security and to the development of harmonised standards for public-space management across European Union countries.
