Data in public transport

Data standards and the digital transformation

Public transport is increasingly reliant on data. Data is the key to managing fleets, efficient operations, and accurate passenger information – all things necessary to provide the high-level service that passengers require today.

To achieve this, the data we generate must be managed. And sharing standardised, accessible, and reliable mobility data is what will enable citizens to choose more sustainable ways of travelling and living.

And it’s on this topic that Data4PT has worked on for four years. Having ended in 2024, Data4PT’s efforts will continue in the NAPCORE project, where UITP is a part of the consortium.

In this Project Brief, discover Data4PT’s activities and findings on how to improve the attractiveness of public transport via the provision of EU-wide multimodal travel information services (MMTIS).

An EU-funded project coordinated by UITP, Data4PT gathered a consortium including ITxPT as the technical manager and nine EU member states:

  • Austria
  • Croatia
  • Czech Republic
  • Denmark
  • France
  • Italy
  • Portugal
  • Slovenia
  • Sweden
  • 4.5 years

    1 January 2020 – 30 June 2024

  • €2 million in funding

    Total budget: €2.5 million
