Public transport is a key actor in revitalising, regenerating and supporting growth in deprived areas. Urban regeneration means closing the gap between the wealthiest and poorest populations by improving the physical structure of a deprived place, increasing the access for people living in deprived areas to a city’s life opportunities to tackle social exclusion and support the local economy.
This Policy Brief summarises how public transport is an essential instrument for urban regeneration as part of a city’s strategy for sustainable development.
