120 questions were asked in a survey to 10 global metro organisations to identify the current situation of LEAN management in the context of metro maintenance.
The overview of LEAN activities considers four main topics:

- Training and Human Resources
All organisations use some basic LEAN principles (although others are far from being applied). The results of the questionnaire identify several areas of potential improvement and use cases for LEAN maintenance implementation in metro rolling stock, as well as best practices on how to improve planning of corrective maintenance to increase the rolling stock availability.
