UITP is pleased to announce the signing of two new agreements (Memorandum of Understanding, MoU), further reinforcing our commitment to collaboration across the wider mobility ecosystem.

As part of the UITP General Assembly in Brussels (Tues 23 June 2026), the agreements were signed by UITP Secretary General Mohamed Mezghani and representatives of trolley:motion and the European Parking Association, Dr. Wolfgang Backhaus and Tom Antonissen respectively.

This important step strengthens cooperation with two key stakeholders who share UITP’s vision of more sustainable, integrated and people-centred mobility systems.

In a rapidly evolving mobility landscape, achieving sustainable urban mobility requires stronger cooperation across our sector.

Public transport does not operate in isolation, and to build sustainable and resilient mobility systems we must collaboration across the entire mobility ecosystem. These new agreements reflect UITP's commitment to bringing together organisations that share common objectives and are ready to work collectively towards better mobility outcomes for people, cities and communities.
Mohamed Mezghani, UITP Secretary General

Strengthening cooperation across the mobility ecosystem

The first agreement was signed with trolley:motion, an organisation dedicated to advancing sustainable electric mobility solutions and promoting the development of trolleybus and electric bus systems worldwide.

Some 250 cities and over 40 countries around the globe operate trolleybuses, and for over 100 years, UITP has brought together the trolleybus sector to share insights and keep people moving sustainably.

Through this partnership, UITP and trolley:motion will create a framework for closer collaboration on knowledge exchange and capacity building, joint promotion of sustainable public transport solutions, expert participation in technical committees and strategic meetings and much more.

The second agreement was signed with the European Parking Association, who play a leading role in the reinvention of parking as a mobility service and parking as a mobility platform, aiming to facilitate cooperation between the professional parking organisations of different European countries.

This agreement will allow UITP and the EPA to collaborate on a wide variety of opportunities, including on advocacy, knowledge sharing, events and communications.

At the most recent UITP Summit (Hamburg 2025), UITP launched a global Parking Transformation Working Group to better explore how parking can be used to incentivise sustainable urban mobility.

Parking is a powerful tool that decides whether people use their car or not. Naturally, the availability, location, and pricing of car parking influences people’s mobility decisions.

And this is a lever which cities can use to promote a modal shift to more sustainable transport.

Delivering on shared ambitions

Through these new partnerships, UITP continues to expand opportunities for collaboration in support of cities, transport authorities, operators and mobility stakeholders worldwide.

UITP remains committed to building partnerships that strengthen the sector, accelerate innovation and help deliver mobility solutions that meet the needs of current and future generations.

Thank you to trolley:motion and the European Parking Association for their collaboration!
